Guildhall 1
Value £195,000
Description: Flat Roof Area 480 M2 Mansard Area 790 M2 Product ICB – Alwitra Evalon V – Single Ply Membrane
The site set-up was extremely complicated as the building is part of the Guildhall Complex and as such, was occupied throughout the works. The ground level perimeter being a public thoroughfare on three sides, added to the challenges. Security was paramount and the neighbouring buildings included the magistrates court.
The initial works consisted of a relatively simple overlay of the flat roof areas incorporating an upgrade of the insulation. The mansard areas were a completely different challenge and involved removing the lead and chipboard bonded panels, many of which had become soft with the years of water ingress. Insulation was placed in the voids and covered with 18mm OSB 3 to provide a sound base for the Evalon V to be fully adhered to. Much of the Eva-Metal detailing, and especially around the existing windows was designed on-site by the team and fabricated in Bournemouth by ICB.
The product was chosen for its colour resemblance to lead and once the mansard areas were broken up with vertical standing seam profiles, the finished work was very similar to how the building would have looked when new.
